Celebrate ‘The Pick of Dickens’ at Tullamore Library!
Offaly County Library Service invites you to celebrate World Book Night 2012 (Monday, April 23rd) with a special event in Tullamore Library.
The Pick of Dickens is an open evening of readings from the works of Charles Dickens. You are invited to come along and share your favourite Dickens line, page or chapter with others or simply sit back and listen! You don’t need to be a Dickens expert to take part, all you need to get involved is a small piece of his writing that you’d like to share or an interest in hearing the words of one of the English language’s great storytellers read aloud. Individuals or groups are welcome.
2012 is the bi-centenary of the birth of Charles Dickens who is the creator of a treasure-trove of classic works including A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield and a cast of characters who have become household names. His novel A Tale of Two Cities is one of the 25 titles on this year’s World Book Night booklist.
The event starts at 8.00pm and admission is free and all are welcome!
